Painted Adirondack chairs are perfect examples of items that were born out of utility, but later got transformed into luxury. These chairs were first made among the Adirondack Mountains in Westport, to provide relaxation to picnickers; but their design was so appealing that they quickly evolved from rugged mountain picnic chairs to contoured indoor and outdoor seating systems. Soon they began to be painted with natural looking colors. Painted Adirondack chairs became hot favorites; and apart from picnic spots, they began to be seen on patios and homes. The idea of Adirondack furniture was later extended to manufacturing Adirondack benches, coffee tables and even office furniture.
